Accommodation overview: Equidistant from both the spectacular North and South Coasts and nestling in a lovely tranquil area, this recently renovated pretty 19th century detached cottage stands in a quarter of an acre of mature country garden.  Retaining much of the original charm and character, Westside Cottage provides warm and cosy year round accommodation set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, within half a mile of ancient walks and graded cycle trails through Cardinham Woods.  

The property is approached by a gated gravel driveway with ample parking and a slate path that leads to the front entrance porch and a stable door opening directly into the attractive beamed living room that spans the width of the cottage.  On one side, comfortable lounge seating is arranged before a granite fireplace retaining the original cloam oven and a wood burning stove, and on the opposite side, there is a dining suite next to a stove effect electric fire set within a second granite fireplace. 

Just off from the dining area French doors open onto a small sunny patio.  At the rear, an inner hall has a fully glazed door to the garden and decking area, a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath, a newly fitted kitchen and an adjacent utility room with access to the driveway. 

Upstairs are two pleasant bedrooms with double and twin zip link beds (making a 6ft double if required) respectively, both with beamed ceilings, exposed stonework and window seats overlooking the front garden.  To complete the accommodation,one step leads up to a shower room W.C. with hand basin; the ground floor bathroom and upstairs shower room both benefit from electric underfloor heating and heated towel rails. 

The extensive garden which surrounds the property has a secluded lawn and a pretty curved wooden deck at the rear. A summerhouse at the top of the garden enjoys beautiful views over fields and wooded hills. At the bottom of the garden there is a log store with storage space for bicycles and beach gear. 

Blisland
, 4 miles, has a local store/P.O. and traditional pub facing the village green and Bodmin, 5 miles, has a good selection of shops, pubs, bicycle hire, leisure centre, golf club and Steam Railway.  Bodmin Moor offers walking and solitude and there are cycle trails through Cardinham Woods with the Camel Trail close by.  

The beautiful beaches and fishing villages of the north and south coast’s are within 30 minutes drive and there are many glorious gardens and historic houses including Lanhydrock House (4.5 miles) and the Eden Project within easy reach.  Watersports and fishing are available at Siblyback Lake nearby. 
A real bonus for this peaceful rural location is the easy road access to both A roads providing an ideal base for exploring the whole of Cornwall.

Trencreek Farmhouse is a superbly appointed detached Grade II Listed Farmhouse set in 7 acres of fields and surrounded by beautiful countryside, ten minutes from the sheltered waters of the south Cornish coast.

This luxury self catering property is 3 miles from the village of Tregony with its shop, pub, farm shop, post office and art gallery and 3 miles from the picturesque village of Veryan. There are some half dozen excellent restaurants and pubs around 10 minutes away. The garden is a haven for children who want to nature spot or build dens and the property benefits from a full sized table tennis table in the adjacent barn.

The Cornish coast nearby offers three fine sandy beaches: Caerhays Beach is just under three miles and the National Trust beaches of Carne and Pendower (together a mile long sandy beach and good rock pooling) are only 4 miles away. The water at Carne and Pendower is particularly good for swimming (you may even spot a seal! ) and the beaches have excellent rock pools.

The village of Tregony is on the Roseland Peninsula, one of the most unspoilt areas of Cornwall and very popular with walkers and those seeking an outdoor break. There are riding stables and tennis courts at Veryan and, of course, sailing, as well as a fine range of galleries and restaurants at St Mawes (9 miles). Fishing trips and chartered outings can be arranged in St Mawes.Fishing trips are available at St Mawes.

Trencreek Farmhouse is ideally situated for exploring the many delights of this area of Cornwall. Places to visit include the cathedral city of Truro (11 miles). Newquay airport is easily accessible. Caerhays Castle Garden is particularly worth a visit in early Spring and hosts a National Collection of Magnolias. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within easy reach and are worth visiting year round. Slightly further afield are Rick Stein's various restaurants in Padstow, Jamie Oliver's new Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth and St Ives with its many restaurants and The Tate Gallery. There are a number of National Trust properties and Gardens nearby. The nearest being Trelissick Garden and Trerice Manor. There are also a number of Engligh Heritage properties, St Mawes Castle being the closest.

Lonsdale House occupies an enviable position in the middle of the village a couple of minutes walk from the well stocked shop, two pubs offering delicious home cooked food and a cafe/ fish and chip shop, yet set back from the road and offering a quiet and private place in which to relax.

Visitors can take advantage of the sports centre facilities at nearby Ampleforth College and within a 5 mile radius there is fishing, pony trekking, golf, cycle hire and the newly opened cycle trails from Sutton Bank National Park Centre. A 5 minute drive brings you to the pretty market town of Helmsley with its Castle, Walled Garden, Duncombe Park and a wide range of shops, hotels/pubs and restaurants. Also close at hand are the abbeys of Rievaulx and Byland and the National Trust properties of Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terraces and Temples. Further afield Whitby on the coast, Goathland and Pickering in the National Park, Masham, Ripon and Harrogate to the west, Castle Howard and Scampston Walled Garden to the east and York to the south are all within easy reach.

2 The Oaks is a beautiful 19th century semi-detached sandstone cottage, situated in a very quiet rural location between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye, both seven miles away. The cottage is a mile from the village of Hoarwithy which has a brilliant local pub (the New Harp Inn) situated next to the River Wye, which serves excellent food and local beers and also houses a small convenience shop.

This is a wonderful walking location with direct access to footpaths from the garden. Cycling can also be enjoyed by following the many bridleways and tracks in the area.

Monmouth lies 15 miles to the south with its wonderful castles, and white water canoeing is just 10 miles away at Symonds Yat. The Forest Of Dean is around 20 miles away, and has many attractions including cycling, mountain biking, walking, a steam railway, Hopewell Colliery Museum and Go-Ape. Just over the border the Brecon Beacons await. To the North West (50 minutes' drive) is the border town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its Literature and Arts festival.

Goodrich Castle - seven miles from the property.
Four Foxes Vineyards - twenty miles from the property.

Midsummer Cottage details

Midsummer Cottage is a delightful 17th century Grade II listed Cotswold stone cottage with a very pretty garden. It is beautifully furnished and renovated to a very high standard. The sitting room has original exposed beams and a woodburner set in a traditional stone fireplace.

Stanton is one of the prettiest villages lying within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Little has changed in over 300 years and the houses are built in typical Cotswolds style. Midsummer Cottage is in the centre of this very peaceful village.

The village inn, The Mount, stands at the top end of the village with spectacular views across the Vale of Evesham towards the Malvern Hills. There are many delightful walks along the Cotswold Way and on the edge of the village there is a traditional cricket club and an Equestrian Centre.

There is also the parish church of St. Michael, with the building you see today dating back to the 15th century.

Nearby Broadway and Winchcombe offer a good range of shops and services, whilst Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham are the main shopping and cultural centres for the region. There is a main line rail service to London Paddington from either Evesham or Moreton-in-Marsh and access to the M5 via junction 9 (Tewkesbury) is about 11 miles away.
