The owners have made the most of the building and presented it in an 'industrial cool meets Bath charm' style that appealed to us when we inspected the property. This is an unusual property, and we think you'll love it when you stay. The property is located about 15 mins level walk to the centre of Bath (& also v. close to where Bath Rugby Club train!) and on the very edge of a small housing development. This petite holiday house provides a very good standard of accommodation for people looking to tour the southern Cotswolds as well as the architecture of this World Heritage Site. The village pub, the Lord Poulett Arms, has real ale and excellent food. Both the pub and the shop are two minutes' walk away. Booking at the pub is recommended.

It is approximately 300 years old and is furnished to provide comfortable accommodation with classic character and charm of the original building. Accommodation overview: Clematis Cottage, Freshford nr Bath is a quaint yet basic holiday cottage priced sensitively to reflect the standard. The cottage has a long history dating back over 200 years and is situated in a beautiful and peaceful village just 5 miles from the World Heritage City of Bath. Internally, is presented in a traditional fashion the open plan kitchen dining area particularly appealing, the accommodation is split over three floors. The cottage is situated at the top of a lane and has lovely views across the Freshford Valley and the village itself, where there is a local pub and shop. As you would expect, the location makes it ideal for walks but it is also excellent for access to Bath which is only 10 mins drive away (or if you want to forget the car compltetly, 30 minutes by bus, which stops outside the front door, or 7 minutes by train!) In our opinion this cottage is a good choice for a family or group looking to travel to Bath, the Southern Cotswolds and many other surrounding attractions and to do so at a very affordable price. Children of all ages welcomed. The village is 'terribly quintessential English': full of period buildings, relatviely untouched and with stunning views down the valley. Inside the cottage is furnished to a very high standard, with period and contemporary touches in equal measure - very attractive. It is ideal for two, three or four people with the beds providing a variety of 'options'! There is also an enclosed garden to the rear. A coffin from this site was discovered in 1917! The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as including the presence of a church, possibly wooden; however the nave of the Church of St Luke and St Andrew was added in the 12th century, and the church has a tower dating from the 15th century. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and is crowned with a disproportionately large weather vane given as a gift by the lord of the manor in 1813. As you can see the village is steeped in history. Priston Mill was given by the monks of Bath Abbey in 931 and is powered by a 25 feet water wheel. Today the present building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and is maintained in working condition, with the associated tithe barn (1700's) it is currently used as a wedding and conference venue.Nearby is the Georgian City of Bath with its many facilities and shops plus Glastonbury, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Castle Combe, Lacock.
