The popular Longleat Safari Park is approximately six miles from the property and is a great family day out.
Frome, 4 miles is the closest town and benefits from a vibrant atmosphere, with plenty of quirky, independent shops and cafes. There is a local market every Wednesday and Saturday along with a great arts and music scene with an art gallery in the main town car park.
The Vobster Inn is within walking distance of the property and has a lovely beer garden during the summer months.Other great family gastro style pubs include The Talbot at Mells, The Grange at Whatley and the Archangel in Frome town centre all of which have lovely outside dining areas.

Accommodation overview: Clematis Cottage, Freshford nr Bath is a quaint yet basic holiday cottage priced sensitively to reflect the standard. The cottage has a long history dating back over 200 years and is situated in a beautiful and peaceful village just 5 miles from the World Heritage City of Bath. Internally, is presented in a traditional fashion the open plan kitchen dining area particularly appealing, the accommodation is split over three floors. The cottage is situated at the top of a lane and has lovely views across the Freshford Valley and the village itself, where there is a local pub and shop. As you would expect, the location makes it ideal for walks but it is also excellent for access to Bath which is only 10 mins drive away (or if you want to forget the car compltetly, 30 minutes by bus, which stops outside the front door, or 7 minutes by train!) In our opinion this cottage is a good choice for a family or group looking to travel to Bath, the Southern Cotswolds and many other surrounding attractions and to do so at a very affordable price. Children of all ages welcomed. Just three miles from Crewkerne, the location provides an excellent touring base for days out in both north Dorset and south Somerset.
The Dorset coast lies within a 30-minute drive.
The village pub, the Lord Poulett Arms, has real ale and excellent food. Both the pub and the shop are two minutes' walk away. Booking at the pub is recommended.

The property, which is at least 250 years old, sits towards the end of a no-through road leading towards the historic Norman church and forms part of a row of cottages that are now all owned by one family. The village is 'terribly quintessential English': full of period buildings, relatviely untouched and with stunning views down the valley. Inside the cottage is furnished to a very high standard, with period and contemporary touches in equal measure - very attractive. It is ideal for two, three or four people with the beds providing a variety of 'options'! There is also an enclosed garden to the rear. Built in the 18th century and situated in the grounds of the owners beautiful home, this classic little cottage is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Priston itself just 15 minutes from the very centre of Bath. A detached property and literally within yards of open countryside, this traditional holiday cottage provides quality self catering accommodation at a superb price. Internally the cottage enjoys many period features including exposed beams, thick stone walls and Gothic archways all of which add to the character of the original building. Added to this is the stripped pine flooring and the wood-burner which make the cottage warm and homely. A coffin from this site was discovered in 1917! The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as including the presence of a church, possibly wooden; however the nave of the Church of St Luke and St Andrew was added in the 12th century, and the church has a tower dating from the 15th century. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and is crowned with a disproportionately large weather vane given as a gift by the lord of the manor in 1813. As you can see the village is steeped in history. Priston Mill was given by the monks of Bath Abbey in 931 and is powered by a 25 feet water wheel. Today the present building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and is maintained in working condition, with the associated tithe barn (1700's) it is currently used as a wedding and conference venue.Nearby is the Georgian City of Bath with its many facilities and shops plus Glastonbury, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Castle Combe, Lacock.

Accommodation overview: Common Hill Cottage is an old fashion little cottage, set on the hill above the pretty village of Steeple Ashton. It is approximately 300 years old and is furnished to provide comfortable accommodation with classic character and charm of the original building. Beamed ceilings, large inglenook fireplace with open wood-burning stove and some modern conveniences make this an inexpensive location from which to explore this beautiful area, including the Spa City of Bath. To the front is a small cottage garden and to the rear open fields and country views.
