The traditional coastal village of Eyemouth is only 5 miles east and there's a glorious golden, sandy beach at Coldingham Bay only 3 miles away. The picturesque working harbour and lifeboat station at St Abbs (described in the AA Book of Britain's Countryside "as perhaps the greatest glory in the Scottish Border's") is 4 miles where you can enjoy a cliff top stroll and watch the fishing trawlers return with their daily catch..... Reston is only half a mile west of the A1, some 10 miles north of the elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed and where many facilities are available including a cinema/theatre, indoor swimming and a vast array of restaurants and shops. Paxton House, Manderston, Floors Castle and the majestic Bamburgh castle are but a small selection of interesting visitor attractions close by and the tidal island of Lindisfarne (known as Holy Island) can be reached by a causeway, which is safe to cross twice daily. Golf enthusiasts will delight in the many prestigious courses close by and walkers and cyclists will enjoy the challenge of the Southern Upland Way, which routes through the Lammermuir Hills. The owners have converted the ground floor of the house into a spacious, self-contained holiday apartment with unique character and charm. The apartment boasts many splendid original architectural features, enormous stone fireplaces in two rooms, stone and polished floors and working shutters on all windows. The comfortable furnishings combine traditional and modern styles, creating an unusual holiday home of a very high standard.
