Scarlet Pimpernel comprises two of six two-bedroom luxury lodges located in the peaceful surroundings of Constable Country, near Stoke by Nayland in Suffolk. They're perfect for romantic escapes, cosy family and friends reunions and golf and spa breaks for eight guests. Spacious and bright, each of the two floors offers a large open-plan living, kitchen and dining area which features floor-to-ceiling windows at one end, with patio doors leading out onto large balconies looking out over the beautiful Suffolk countryside - just perfect for a leisurely breakfast or BBQ, a spot of sunbathing or perhaps an evening cocktail or two as the sun goes down. On the ground floor there are two spacious en suite double bedrooms, and on the first floor there are two more en suite double bedrooms. Each of the four bedrooms offer zip and link beds which can either be twins, or can be zipped together to make a super king-size bed.
Up to ten lodges here – offering a total of 16 double en suite bedrooms – can also be booked together for much larger groups of up to 32 guests. These are all within a five minutes’ drive of the nearby outstanding facilities at the family-owned Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa. There is a Lodge Porter on hand at all times to transport you to the hotel should you wish to indulge in a spa treatment, tone up in the Technogym, play a round or two of golf, or treat yourself to a meal in the onsite 2 AA Rosette restaurant, without being concerned about drinking and driving – it’s all so easy. You can even have one of the Hotel’s Chefs prepare a bespoke menu and serve it to you in the comfort and privacy of your lodge if you really want to treat yourselves! While some activities such as golf and spa treatments would involve additional costs, guests can enjoy complimentary use of the luxurious indoor poolside facilities and Technogym.

Located within the Cotswolds' 450 acre Lower Mill Estate nature reserve and just a two minute stroll from the River Thames tributary, the property offers accommodation ideal for families with youngsters but also perfect for couples looking to relax. Internally, the cottage is welcoming and well furnished with your own grassed area outside, perfect for sitting / playing with small and shallow stream and lake beyond. Accommodation overview: Oak and May Cottages are two very well presented properties converted from a stone barn. Set in their own grounds at the head of a stunning rural valley, the properties boast lovely views from the garden across farmland. The accommodation (adjacent to the owners' home) is cleverly set out over two floors and is ideally suited to a couple or young family. Whilst the cottages are available individually, they may also suit two families looking for adjacent accommodation sleeping up to eight in total. The cottages are in a wonderful setting of outstanding natural beauty overlooking farmland, and just 1 1/2 miles from the beautiful estuary town of Salcombe, with its spectacular coastline and fine sandy beaches. The village of Malborough - with two pubs, post office/village stores and garage - is only third of a mile away. Salcombe and Malborough can now be reached via a newly constructed cycle/walk path accessed from the top of the drive.All guests have access to the outdoor solar heated swimming pool (usually available from late May to the end of September) and are welcome to meet the resident herd of Shetland ponies!

A beautiful and historic ferryman's cottage, the site of which is mentioned in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which is situated directly on the banks of the River Thames, adjacent to the Oxford University Rowing Club.
This unique property, which sits on Edwardian brick arches, overlooks its own private riverside garden and pontoon. On the other side of the river is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a working dairy farm.
The house is on the southern edge of the town of Wallingford, just over an hour's drive from London, 15 minutes from Henley and 20 minutes from Oxford.
Until c.1950 the house was occupied by the Wallingford ferryman, who transported horses, people and freight across the river at the point where the River Thames tow path changed sides. The raised outhouse was the ticket booth associated with the ferry.
Wallingford is a pretty medieval market town situated along the banks of the River Thames. The centre of the town is a five minute walk along either the riverside or quiet roads, and has a picturesque town square with a 17th century arcaded town hall, a number of historic inns and restaurants, three ancient churches, the Corn Exchange theatre and cinema, a large Waitrose and a summer outdoor swimming pool. You can also enjoy the Cholsey and Wallingford Steam Railway, or a walk around the ruins of Wallingford Castle, once one of the largest in the country but largely destroyed by Oliver Cromwell.
There is a town museum and Agatha Christie's home and boathouse nearby. Midsomer Murders was filmed in the town. A bus service runs to Oxford and Reading and the stop is only a few minutes walk away.
You will find the house a restful and fun place, surrounded by the quiet of the Thames, with only its water wildlife for company.
