Accommodation overview: With panoramic views of Fowey Harbour from the first floor, this traditional Victorian mid terrace cottage stands in an elevated position above the unspoilt fishing village of Polruan with the quayside just a five minute walk down the steep hill. Ideal for family holidays, the cottage is decorated and comfortably furnished in keeping with its period and is approached by a pedestrian lane set just below the main village car park.

Fronted by a good sized garden, the cottage is entered by a gated path with a couple of steps leading up to the front door which opens into a small entrance lobby with coat pegs. To one side there is a warm and cosy beamed sitting room with lounge seating arranged before the exposed Cornish stone chimney breast and on the opposite side is a pleasant dining room with rocking chairs next to the hearth; both rooms with cushioned window seats overlooking the front lawn.

In an extension at the rear, one step leads up to a newly fitted kitchen and a further step continues up to a ground floor bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and a back door opening out to a service courtyard.

A carpeted staircase leads directly up in one corner of the dining room to the first floor landing where there are two double rooms and a single bedroom at the front of the cottage all enjoying stunning views of the River Fowey and upstream to Bodinnick. One step at the rear continues up to a fourth bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath.There are electric convector heaters in all bedrooms.

The lawn to the front of the cottage is gated and enclosed by a low boundary hedge, and although there is no parking on site, the pay and display village car park and children's playground are just a 2 minute walk up the hill. There are two pubs, a cafe, village store and post office adjacent to the quayside approximately 500 yards downhill. From here, a regular passenger ferry operates to Fowey where there is a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, boat trips departing from the town quay and a beach at Readymoney Cove.

There are beautiful coastal and creekside walks in the immediate vicinity including the Hall Walk and Pencarrow Head and the nearest beaches are Lantic Bay and Lansallos about a 10 minute drive. Polperro is 5.5 miles and Looe just a little further.

Accommodation overview: Waitby School was built on Waitby Fell in 1680 by James Highmore, a local to the area, for the children of Waitby and Smardale. About a mile and a half west of Kirkby Stephen, Waitby is said to have been an ancient market town, with a castle, chapel and cemetery, but no trace of either is now to be seen. However, the school remains, standing proud on the fellside and, having been purchased recently by another local family, has been lovingly restored, in conjunction with English Heritage, to offer luxurious holiday accommodation. The property stands alone and enjoys uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside, dotted with livestock and the occasional farmer and tractor at doin up time.

Crispin Cox comprises two of ten luxury lodges in the peaceful, idyllic surroundings of Constable Country, near Stoke by Nayland in Suffolk. Accommodation overview: Just 2 miles inland from the beautiful sandy beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay on the North Cornwall Coast, this attractive semi detached period cottage is situated in a peaceful location on the edge of the village of Marhamchurch.  Situated in a little cluster of cottages set at the end of a long unmade lane, the property offers a perfect base for exploring the spectacular coastline nearby with the dramatic South West Coast Path and stunning beaches just a 10 minute drive

A stable door opens under heavy blooms of wisteria in summer, directly into a useful entrance porch with coat pegs on the wall and the original low front doorway leads into a small lobby.  On the left, one step leads down to a neatly fitted kitchen with the original slate flagstones and on the opposite side of the lobby, one step leads up to a charming beamed dining room with pine furniture and an electric log effect fire in the hearth.

Beyond, in an extension to the original cottage, a doorway leads through to a warm and cosy sitting room with a beamed ceiling and comfortable lounge seating next to a Cornish stone fireplace
with a log effect electric fire. To complete the ground floor accommodation, a door in one corner of the dining room opens to a walk-in shower room W.C. with small hand basin and heated towel rail. 

A rather steep and narrow carpeted staircase leads up from the lobby to the first floor landing and three pretty cottage-style bedrooms all with washbasins; there is a double bedroom, a twin bedded room and one with a single bed.  A stable door opens from the sitting room to an enclosed patio that provides a lovely sun trap and visitors are welcome to make use of the shared lawned garden surrounding the cottages reached by half a dozen steps.  There is on-site parking for one car adjacent to the cottage. 

The seaside resort of Bude with its golden sandy beaches, selection of shops and restaurants,and a leisure pool is approximately 2 miles by road.  It is possible to walk or cycle to Bude along the scenic canal footpath passing through farmland and a nature reserve, surfing,fishing, golf and horse riding are also available locally.  The picturesque villages of Boscastle, Tintagel and Clovelly are all within half an hour’s drive.

Accommodation overview: With partial views of the coastline and out to sea, this charming former coastguard cottage is set in a slightly elevated position above the lovely old Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac with the advantage of on-site parking.  One of a small row of double glazed cottages set in a quiet sheltered courtyard; it is just a couple of minutes walk down the hill to the picturesque harbour, famously known as the fictional setting of Doc Martin

The front door opens to a useful entrance lobby with cloaks cupboard and an inner door leads directly into a fully fitted kitchen/diner with a Cornish slate floor and dining table and chairs arranged in one corner.  To one side, an attractive warm and cosy sitting room has natural exposed stonework on one wall, a pine dresser and comfortable lounge seating arranged before the stone fireplace housing the multi fuel burner

In one corner of the sitting room, cottage stairs lead directly up to a small first floor landing, a modern shower room W.C. with heated towel rail and two pleasantly furnished bedrooms each with a wash basin.  There is a double bedroom and a master bedroom with the choice of a 6ft double or 3ft zip linked twin beds; both bedrooms have oblique views over the village, headland and sea. 

From the latter, an unusual first floor French door opens to a stoutly built wooden bridge leading directly out to the enclosed rear garden partly terraced into the hillside with steps up to a sloping lawn and a decked patio with views over the cottage rooftops to the sea and cliffs.  There is parking for one car directly outside the property and all the village amenities are a short walk down the steep hill where there are several good restaurants serving freshly caught fish and it is usually possible to watch the singers the Fishermans Friends perform on the quayside in summer evenings. 

There is also a pub offering food and a supermarket at the top of the village and for a wider choice of amenities the market town of Wadebridge is about 9 miles.  Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have small shingly beaches at low tide and the glorious sandy beaches on the Camel Estuary, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are all approximately a 15 minute drive.  The South West Coast Path meanders out of the village in both directions offering spectacular scenery and there are watersports and three golf courses within easy reach.
