Accommodation overview: With partial views of the coastline and out to sea, this charming former coastguard cottage is set in a slightly elevated position above the lovely old Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac with the advantage of on-site parking. One of a small row of double glazed cottages set in a quiet sheltered courtyard; it is just a couple of minutes walk down the hill to the picturesque harbour, famously known as the fictional setting of Doc Martin.
The front door opens to a useful entrance lobby with cloaks cupboard and an inner door leads directly into a fully fitted kitchen/diner with a Cornish slate floor and dining table and chairs arranged in one corner. To one side, an attractive warm and cosy sitting room has natural exposed stonework on one wall, a pine dresser and comfortable lounge seating arranged before the stone fireplace housing the multi fuel burner.
In one corner of the sitting room, cottage stairs lead directly up to a small first floor landing, a modern shower room W.C. with heated towel rail and two pleasantly furnished bedrooms each with a wash basin. There is a double bedroom and a master bedroom with the choice of a 6ft double or 3ft zip linked twin beds; both bedrooms have oblique views over the village, headland and sea.
From the latter, an unusual first floor French door opens to a stoutly built wooden bridge leading directly out to the enclosed rear garden partly terraced into the hillside with steps up to a sloping lawn and a decked patio with views over the cottage rooftops to the sea and cliffs. There is parking for one car directly outside the property and all the village amenities are a short walk down the steep hill where there are several good restaurants serving freshly caught fish and it is usually possible to watch the singers the Fishermans Friends perform on the quayside in summer evenings.
There is also a pub offering food and a supermarket at the top of the village and for a wider choice of amenities the market town of Wadebridge is about 9 miles. Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have small shingly beaches at low tide and the glorious sandy beaches on the Camel Estuary, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are all approximately a 15 minute drive. The South West Coast Path meanders out of the village in both directions offering spectacular scenery and there are watersports and three golf courses within easy reach.
