Similarly, the famous Severn Bore (a tidal surge on the River Severn) is nearby too and if the timing is correct you will see a unique natural phenomena.

Renovated to a very exacting standard by its owners, this holiday cottage is an absolute gem with every care taken to ensure that the accommodation is of the highest standard. Internally the property retains many classic features including an Aga and open fire and is presented in a wonderfully cosy yet modern style that absolutely fits 'the feel' of the cottage. Externally the cottage is set within the grounds of the owner's home overlooking private gardens with river frontage and rolling Cotswolds Hills beyond. In every resepct this we recommend this self catering cottage. We fell in love with the location the moment we drove through the private gates - it really is the ideal spot for friends or family to relax and unwind and to enjoy the open space that this location affords. This spacious property provides an ideal rural setting for a family holiday, yet Stow-on-the-Wold with its eclectic mix of quality shopping, restaurants and pubs is only a mile away.
The Heart of England Way runs adjacent to the cottage, and a 15-minute walk along this public footpath through the magnificent grounds of the Abbottswood Estate, will bring you to Lower Swell where the Golden Ball Public House offers good food, an open fire and a warm welcome. From Lower Swell, you can continue along the public footpaths for a further two miles, to the charming and much photographed villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.
