Ingleside Cottage combines the benefits of location in one of the most picturesque villages in the North Cotswolds with close proximity to the shops and services of Chipping Campden.

Situated in the quiet lane running through Broad Campden, this 2 double bedroom cottage retains its flagstone floor, its old beams and leaded glass windows. Full gas central heating is supplemented by a realistic woodburning stove style gas fire in the inglenook fireplace. The enclosed garden has a patio area with barbecue.

Broad Campden is an extremely attractive small village which has many thatched cottages, a charming church, the oldest Friends Meeting House in the country (17th Century) and the 'Bakers Arms' pub, offering real ale and excellent food in both bar and restaurant.

There are many public footpaths in the area including a delightful walk to Chipping Campden (approx 20 mins), which goes through the grounds of Maidenwell Manor with wonderful views of Chipping Campden along the way.

The property is a modernised spacious, self-contained wing of an important Grade II listed manor house, close to the west bank of the river Severn on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border. It has been redecorated to a very high standard and is furnished throughout with antique furniture and decorative prints.

Parts of the house date back to the 15th century, including the Medieval Great Hall built by the Abbots of the Benedictine monastery at Tewkesbury (four miles). Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn are believed to have stayed here in July 1535. The present owners are the eighth generation to own the manor and its estate. The wing was added circa 1890 by the Arts and Crafts architect, Philip Webb.

Cheltenham with its racecourse, literary and music festivals and shops is 12 miles away. The cities of Gloucester and Worcester with their museums and cathedrals are both 25 minutes away. The nearby Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill provide excellent walking opportunities. There are several historic houses to be visited locally, among which Eastnor Castle (Ledbury) and Sudeley Castle (Winchcombe) are prominent. The Cotswolds' western escarpment with the gardens of Kiftsgate and Hidcote and the picturesque town of Broadway are easily reached. There are 18-hole golf courses at Puckrup (six miles) and Tewkesbury Park (five miles). The nearest pub is the approximately half a mile from the property and serves traditional food and ales. For racing enthusiasts Cheltenham Racecourse is only a 20-minute drive away.

October Cottage details

October Cottage is situated in the very pretty Parish of Chalford which lies four miles south east of Stroud on the north side of the River Frome. Situated on the side of Chalford Hill the cottage is approached via a steep narrow lane. In this part of Gloucestershire the Cotswolds are cut by deep gorge-like valleys opening out westward into the Severn plain.

The village has a store where you can purchase fresh produce, the Lavender Bake House coffee shop, a Tesco Express and a fish and chip shop. There are many excellent pubs and restaurants in the area. The award winning Farmers Market at Stroud is on Saturdays.

Minchinhampton has two golf courses which are open to visitors (two miles), Nailsworth ( four miles), the market towns of Tetbury (five) miles and Cirencester (10 miles).

Accommodation overview: Granary Cottage, Blackwell is a Four Star rated self catering cottage set in the heart of the Northern Cotswolds, and a convenient distance from Chipping Campden and also Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon. This lovely holiday cottage is set within the peaceful grounds of the owners home and is surrounded by some fine rolling Cotswolds' countryside. As one would expect from such a location it is ideal for walks, but it is equally perfect for enjoying many classic Cotswold spots including some National Trust gardens and ever popular market towns such as Stow on the Wold. Internally the cottage is presented in immaculate condition with good thought given to the period property whilst providing many modern facilities throughout that will give customers, in our opinion, a delightful experience and at excellent price. Added to this is access to a paddock AND a super games room with 'pub style' pool table!! Shipston-on-Stour, a delightful market town with a wide range of independent shops, and Ilmington, a lovely Cotswold village with the famous Howard Arms pub with great food and atmosphere, are both 2-3 miles away.
