Accommodation overview: Lower Barn Cottage, Winson is a magnificent Cotswolds holiday cottage set in one of the most delightful and unspoilt villages of the region. Renovated to a very exacting standard by its owners, this holiday cottage is an absolute gem with every care taken to ensure that the accommodation is of the highest standard. Internally the property retains many classic features including an Aga and open fire and is presented in a wonderfully cosy yet modern style that absolutely fits 'the feel' of the cottage. Externally the cottage is set within the grounds of the owner's home overlooking private gardens with river frontage and rolling Cotswolds Hills beyond. In every resepct this we recommend this self catering cottage. We fell in love with the location the moment we drove through the private gates - it really is the ideal spot for friends or family to relax and unwind and to enjoy the open space that this location affords. Situated in a prime location overlooking Somerford Lagoon, one of the Cotswold lakes, this cosy cottage is absolutely ideal for a family or small group of friends looking to enjoy the peace of this region of the Cotswolds and yet also interested in visiting many of the area's popular attractions. The area is one of the UK's largest Wildlife Reserves still in private hands and offers an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. Inside the cottage offers spacious and modern accommodation for four, (with the added benefit of extra bunk beds if required). Botloes Cottage is a quirky and very comfortable converted barn, nestling in beautiful hilly countryside. It shares seven acres with Botloes Farm including woodland, an orchard and two ponds to explore.
Botloes Green is a small hamlet ideal for walking and cycling. It is next door to the Three Choirs Vineyard and Restaurant with direct access through the orchard from the grounds of the property. Newent (two miles) has several pubs and cafes, some with excellent food, and an Artisan Bakery.
The nearest train station is Ledbury, a 15-minute drive, which also offers a good selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Within the local area are a wide range of attractions including the Malvern Hills Falconry Centre (four miles).

Located within the Cotswolds' 450 acre Lower Mill Estate nature reserve and just a two minute stroll from the River Thames tributary, the property offers accommodation ideal for families with youngsters but also perfect for couples looking to relax. Internally, the cottage is welcoming and well furnished with your own grassed area outside, perfect for sitting / playing with small and shallow stream and lake beyond. Nestled in the centre of the peaceful and picturesque village of Stanton, in the heart of the Cotswolds, is the Hayloft. A charming 17th century converted Cotswold stone barn with many exposed beams, yet with a light and airy feel and good headroom for guests above 6'. Stanton is quintessentially Cotswolds, picture postcard pretty and a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Broadway with its many pubs and restaurants and a great delicatessen is just three miles away. The small but busy town of Stow-on-the-Wold with a large selection of interesting shops is nine miles distant. Winchcombe is a must for food lovers with a number of great eating hostelries. Cheltenham boasting the popular Gold Cup in March is 11 miles away. Stanton, which lies on the Cotswold Way, is a delight for walkers and cyclists, with trails to suit all abilities running from the village. Pubs at Snowshill and Broadway are both within walking distance.
For riders of all levels, horses can be hired at the renowned Jill Carenza Equestrian centre on the edge of the village. Steam enthusiasts can board the Gloucester and Warwickshire steam railway at Toddington (three miles) and mountain bikers have endless hilly trails to keep them busy.
The Mount Inn at top of the village has extensive views over both the village, the surrounding Cotswold countryside and the Vale of Evesham. Extremely popular, booking is recommended in this friendly, cosy public house serving good food and local Donnington Ale. The village is also home to a small garden nursery with a wonderful array of plants and a small farm shop selling local produce, including asparagus (in season), cheese and delicious sausages.
