Nestled in the centre of the peaceful and picturesque village of Stanton, in the heart of the Cotswolds, is the Hayloft. A charming 17th century converted Cotswold stone barn with many exposed beams, yet with a light and airy feel and good headroom for guests above 6'. Stanton is quintessentially Cotswolds, picture postcard pretty and a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Broadway with its many pubs and restaurants and a great delicatessen is just three miles away. The small but busy town of Stow-on-the-Wold with a large selection of interesting shops is nine miles distant. Winchcombe is a must for food lovers with a number of great eating hostelries. Cheltenham boasting the popular Gold Cup in March is 11 miles away. Stanton, which lies on the Cotswold Way, is a delight for walkers and cyclists, with trails to suit all abilities running from the village. Pubs at Snowshill and Broadway are both within walking distance.
For riders of all levels, horses can be hired at the renowned Jill Carenza Equestrian centre on the edge of the village. Steam enthusiasts can board the Gloucester and Warwickshire steam railway at Toddington (three miles) and mountain bikers have endless hilly trails to keep them busy.
The Mount Inn at top of the village has extensive views over both the village, the surrounding Cotswold countryside and the Vale of Evesham. Extremely popular, booking is recommended in this friendly, cosy public house serving good food and local Donnington Ale. The village is also home to a small garden nursery with a wonderful array of plants and a small farm shop selling local produce, including asparagus (in season), cheese and delicious sausages.

Accommodation overview: Heron Cottage is a very good quality holiday cottage, located within the heart of the Cotswold Water Park on the popular Lower Mill Village. The cottage is set in a quiet area of the Lower Mill and enjoys a decking area which looks towards a grassed area and Clearwater Lake beyond. This is a great location for families with superb facilities all within easy reach, but is also ideal for couples who want to relax with some brilliant walks (including the Thames Path) and also a good quality local pub, which is about 15 mins walk away. The Farriers is a sunny Cotswold stone cottage situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Southrop.
The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, some of which lead to the River Leach, and others to the neighbouring villages of Eastleach and Hatherop. The church in Southrop dates back to 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The famous gastropub the Swan is within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage and reservations are advised. There is a Wednesday Shop and Post Office held in the Village Hall selling supplies from Sainsburys, and the Southrop Estate also has a shop selling a selection of kitchen/dining goods and household accessories.
Southrop Manor also offers cooking classes which are held in the Tithe Barn and can be booked direct with them in advance of your stay.
High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Swindon (12 miles) or Charlbury (17 miles).
Southrop is two miles from the A361 Burford-to-Lechlade road.

A large, detached house located down a long drive on the edge of the premium (and quite famous) Cotswolds village of Fairford, it offers just about everything you could wish for when looking for an exclusive holiday home. Inside, the owners have created a very welcoming and stylish yet quirky home with large rooms throughout and four fabulous bedroom suites, each with bathrooms. From our perspective, we found the kitchen/diner the real heart of the house, warm and inviting with its huge Aga, and enjoying superb views across the private gardens and paddock beyond, both of which are perfect for children (and adults of course!) to play ball games. This is one for the family, it is also one for friends too given it's superb layout and location in this historic village. The Glen is a large, spacious family house dating from the early 1800s with exposed beams, Cotswold stone walls, and wooden floors. It has been renovated to a high modern standard and furnished with antiques. There is a large enclosed garden with lawns, flower beds, herbs, garden furniture and barbecue.
Blockley is a delightful golden stone village, situated in the rolling hills of the North Cotswolds between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, and near Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water and well-known gardens. It has many historic buildings, including converted water mills along the brook. It is a peaceful, charming village with a friendly community, centered on the café and well stocked shop. From Blockley there are many walks over beautiful countryside. There are two pubs within walking distance, and interesting shops, pubs, and a variety of restaurants in the nearby villages and towns.
