Of particular note are the many antique shops in the town plus Royal shopping in the famous Highgrove Shop and at the Duchy's Veg Shed. Tetbury, in our opinion is the one Cotswold town which many people don't know enough of and therefore, often miss the opportunity to see possibly the nicest and most unspoilt town of all in the Cotswolds! Slightly further afield and for the more adventurous are Bath (30 mins) Cheltenham (35 mins) and Oxford (35 mins) along with many other villages and market towns along with National Trust properties and gardens. Accommodation overview: Midsummer Cottage details
Midsummer Cottage is a delightful 17th century Grade II listed Cotswold stone cottage with a very pretty garden. It is beautifully furnished and renovated to a very high standard. The sitting room has original exposed beams and a woodburner set in a traditional stone fireplace.
Stanton is one of the prettiest villages lying within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Little has changed in over 300 years and the houses are built in typical Cotswolds style. Midsummer Cottage is in the centre of this very peaceful village.
The village inn, The Mount, stands at the top end of the village with spectacular views across the Vale of Evesham towards the Malvern Hills. There are many delightful walks along the Cotswold Way and on the edge of the village there is a traditional cricket club and an Equestrian Centre.
There is also the parish church of St. Michael, with the building you see today dating back to the 15th century.
Nearby Broadway and Winchcombe offer a good range of shops and services, whilst Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham are the main shopping and cultural centres for the region. There is a main line rail service to London Paddington from either Evesham or Moreton-in-Marsh and access to the M5 via junction 9 (Tewkesbury) is about 11 miles away.
