Accommodation overview: Thames Cottage is a sweet holiday cottage, set within the popular Lower Mill Village, itself part of the 450 acre Lower Mill Estate privately owned nature reserve. The property, which is semi detached, is a traditionally styled Cotswold Stone cottage which sits on the edge of the development, overlooks a little River Thames stream, while a short walk across the lane in front of the cottage, takes you to the lake, where you can sit and enjoy the view across the lake. There are many activities on offer including an outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis court. October Cottage is situated in the very pretty Parish of Chalford which lies four miles south east of Stroud on the north side of the River Frome. Situated on the side of Chalford Hill the cottage is approached via a steep narrow lane. In this part of Gloucestershire the Cotswolds are cut by deep gorge-like valleys opening out westward into the Severn plain.
The village has a store where you can purchase fresh produce, the Lavender Bake House coffee shop, a Tesco Express and a fish and chip shop. There are many excellent pubs and restaurants in the area. The award winning Farmers Market at Stroud is on Saturdays.
Minchinhampton has two golf courses which are open to visitors (two miles), Nailsworth ( four miles), the market towns of Tetbury (five) miles and Cirencester (10 miles).

Midsummer Cottage is a delightful 17th century Grade II listed Cotswold stone cottage with a very pretty garden. It is beautifully furnished and renovated to a very high standard. The sitting room has original exposed beams and a woodburner set in a traditional stone fireplace.
Stanton is one of the prettiest villages lying within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Little has changed in over 300 years and the houses are built in typical Cotswolds style. Midsummer Cottage is in the centre of this very peaceful village.
The village inn, The Mount, stands at the top end of the village with spectacular views across the Vale of Evesham towards the Malvern Hills. There are many delightful walks along the Cotswold Way and on the edge of the village there is a traditional cricket club and an Equestrian Centre.
There is also the parish church of St. Michael, with the building you see today dating back to the 15th century.
Nearby Broadway and Winchcombe offer a good range of shops and services, whilst Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham are the main shopping and cultural centres for the region. There is a main line rail service to London Paddington from either Evesham or Moreton-in-Marsh and access to the M5 via junction 9 (Tewkesbury) is about 11 miles away.
