The village hotel and shop are 1 mile with further facilities 3 miles away in the seaside resort of Leven. All along the East Neuk coastline are picturesque old fishing villages, sandy beaches, sheltered coves, excellent links golf courses and quality restaurants while inland quiet roads run through fertile farmlands and country villages. Walkers have the scenic coastal trail or pretty country paths to enjoy and riding is available at the nearby Balcurvie Riding Centre. St Andrews, Edinburgh, Perth and Stirling are easily accessible for day trips.

Accommodation overview: On a small country estate 3/4 mile from Cupar, Garden Cottage is in a beautiful quiet situation with views over fields, woodland and pond. Highland cattle graze in the policies and wildlife abounds. Shops and hotel 0.75 miles.
There is much to see and do in the area which is renowned for its excellent golf courses. The Scottish Deer Centre is 3 miles away and in Cupar there is a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as tennis courts and a swimming pool. This would be an ideal base for touring the quaint villages of the East Neuk where there are beautiful clean sandy beaches, safe for bathing, and the historic University town of St Andrews is within easy reach.
Cupar was for a long time the county town and is still a bustling place with many interesting buildings. There are lovely walks in the surrounding area including the last part of the Coast to Coast walk from Oban to St. Andrews.
This charming detached cottage with stone bow front dates back to 1890 and looks over a pond to fields and woodland and has a private garden with garden furniture and a Little Tykes climbing frame. Use of estate tennis court by arrangement. The very comfortable interior is warm and welcoming, with an open fire in the lounge. Both bedrooms have coombed ceilings and lovely countryside views.

This is a beautiful part of the coastline, just 1/2 mile from the ancient fishing village of Ballantrae. Girvan, a popular seaside town is 15 mins. drive. The farm includes 1 1/2 miles of beach, accessed by a short footpath from the main road below the cottages. The area offers fishing, golf at several excellent courses, sailing and horse-racing at Ayr. Shops and pub 1/2 mile, plus excellent local restaurants.

Dunoon (20 miles) is a popular seaside town and has an 18 hole golf course and Inverary (30 miles) in its glorious setting on the shores of Loch Fyne promises a rewarding trip. Inverary Jail now a museum recounts a tale of prison conditions from medieval times to the 19th century through exciting interactive displays and neo-Gothic Inverary Castle is also well worth exploring. Here amongst its many other attractions Inverary's intriguing wartime role as a training centre for the D Day landings is recalled. An hour's drive away Oban is not only the departure point for boat trips to 'the Isles' but also home to a sea life centre and rare breeds park. Colintraive (9 miles) offers a pub serving good food and there is a summer shop (limited opening hours) at Home Farm.
