Scenic walks along the Warden’s Way can be joined a few metres from the door. The village boasts a 15th century church and medieval dovecote. The Farriers is a sunny Cotswold stone cottage situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Southrop.
The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, some of which lead to the River Leach, and others to the neighbouring villages of Eastleach and Hatherop. The church in Southrop dates back to 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The famous gastropub the Swan is within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage and reservations are advised. There is a Wednesday Shop and Post Office held in the Village Hall selling supplies from Sainsburys, and the Southrop Estate also has a shop selling a selection of kitchen/dining goods and household accessories.
Southrop Manor also offers cooking classes which are held in the Tithe Barn and can be booked direct with them in advance of your stay.
High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Swindon (12 miles) or Charlbury (17 miles).
Southrop is two miles from the A361 Burford-to-Lechlade road.
