Lightpipe Cottage is a secluded holiday hideaway nestled in the midst of the rolling Northumberland countryside with a beautiful outlook towards the Cheviot Hills. Just over a mile from the River Tweed and 1.5 miles from Cornhill-on-Tweed, Lightpipe was originally a humble shepherd's cottage built of the local stone around 1835. In 2005 it was restored and extended. It is now a self-catering holiday rental offering comfortable and modern accommodation while retaining its original charm and features. Incorporated into the walls under the eaves are roosts for the local pipistrelle bats while a barn owl nesting box has been built into the roof space.
Cornhill-on-Tweed has a village shop and a pub, the Collingwood Arms.
Lightpipe is in an ideal location for an outdoor break in Northumberland. A short walk across the field from the holiday cottage is a trout reservoir which guests are welcome to use. In the evening you may catch sight of an otter. There's an all-weather tennis court close by, as well as walks around the farm and further afield. Roads running through West Learmouth are quiet with little traffic, making it an excellent place for cycling and horseriding. Fishing on the River Tweed can be arranged through www.fishpal.com.

There are spectacular walks in the Cheviot Hills, located in the Northumberland National Park 15 miles to the south. Accommodation overview: Conveniently situated between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, Holly Cottage nestles in a semi rural position on the outskirts of the village of Girsby and has been recently converted to a particularly high standard. The cottage is adjacent to the owners home and livery yard and has been stylishly furnished and decorated, enjoying the warmth and comfort of a wood burning stove in the lounge which is open to the eaves and from where a beautiful spiral chandelier takes pride of place! The lounge opens up to a superb tasteful kitchen with adjacent dining area featuring a large chunky table and very comfortable leather dining chairs. The master bedroom houses a zip and link bed which can be used as either a super King size bed or full size twin beds to offer flexibility, whilst the second bedroom, built into the eaves of the house provides a single bed with a pullout bed and a large velux window which opens to a Cabrio balcony. Each of the bedrooms has access to the Jack and Jill style bathroom. Outside the cottage is surrounded by paddocks, a gravelled patio with garden furniture and BBQ to the rear and a large pond stocked with Koi Carp to the front. The pond is very deep and children must be strictly supervised in this area.
