Accommodation overview: Netherton Farm is set in a small peaceful hamlet in a secluded valley surrounded by five acres of beautiful farm and woodland, seven miles from Salcombe in one direction and Dartmouth slightly further in the other. This area is a haven for birds and wildlife and a favourite for walkers (with or without a four-legged friend!) and cyclists. All guests at Netherton have use of the owners fabulous heated outdoor swimming pool (from May until early October, weather permitting) as well as access to the large communal grassed area.Boxtree Barn is a delightful stone and wood-clad cottage, presented to an excellent modern standard whilst retaining many original features. This recently converted, pet friendly barn has a new and fresh feel, the highlight of which is the stunning open plan living accommodation with high vaulted ceiling, glass-panelled staircase and large woodburning stove. Thornwell Cottage is a 200 year old detached Grade II listed property with flagstone floors, exposed beams, extensive private gardens, plum orchard and a paved sitting / dining area. Views across the River Dart can be enjoyed from the lawns and bedrooms.The property is on a quiet single track lane just 75m level walk from the free car park, and is situated in the centre of Dittisham, one of the most charming and unspoilt villages in the South Hams.
The picturesque waterfront, ancient church, two friendly pubs, well stocked village shop and riverside cafe are all within easy distance of Thornwell Cottage, making it the ideal holiday haven at any time of year. Ring a bell at the waters edge just minutes from the property to summon the ferry to Greenway, former home of Agatha Christie, (see National Trust website), hire a boat to explore the river yourself, or take the passenger boat from Dittisham to historic Dartmouth with its wonderful range of shops and restaurants.
From Dartmouth a variety of boat trips are available including Dartmouth Castle, Salcombe and the lovely town of Totnes, or hop across on the ferry to Kingswear and take the delightful steam train journey to Paignton. Blackpool Sands, a Blue Flag Award-winning beach is within eight miles and features the Venus Beach Cafe which serves organic and locally produced food.
Dittisham is a popular crabbing hotspot for old and young alike so get your crabbing lines and bait from the Anchorstone cafe and grab a crab or two! The crabs don't mind - they know they'll be scuttling home to the riverbed at the end of the day.
Backed by green hills and woodlands, walkers are well catered for with excellent walking opportunities, including the Dart Valley Trail which runs through the village close by the property.
PARKING: Proceed along The Level and turn left into The Level Car Park (Free parking). Proceeding on foot, Thornwell Cottage is a very short walk away; turn left out of the car park and go straight along the lane for approx. 60 metres then look for a high white iron gate set in to a stone wall on your right hand side. (See main property image above, but note that you will be approaching the property from the other direction, so the gate will be on your right).

Turnpike Cottage is a recently refurbished Grade II listed, three bedroom property set in the Devon countryside yet only ½ a mile walking distance from the sea. The cottage is in a fantastic location between the lovely South Hams village of Stokenham and the coastal village of Torcross.
There are some great pubs and restaurants nearby and a superb farm shop just down the road. It is ideally placed for walking, bird-watching, sailing and exploring the surrounding area of Outstanding Natural Beauty rich in history and wildlife. The local market town of Kingsbridge is about 15 minutes and historic Dartmouth and stylish Salcombe are just 20 minutes away. The private beach at Blackpool Sands is only a 10 minute drive away with parking, changing rooms and a beach cafe.
Twenty acres of gardens, pasture and farmland surround the property with stunning views across the fields and out to sea. The garden is well established with an abundance of flowers, shrubs and soft fruit bushes and trees. It is fully enclosed (child and dog safe) and consists of different levels which are accessed by steps
Children are welcome at the property; a cot and highchair are provided. You will also find a few extras to make your stay more comfortable and packing a little easier – including toys, books and games.
Two well behaved dogs are also welcome and there is excellent walking nearby.
Please note that there are steps in and around the property making disabled access difficult.
The cottage is situated side on the Stokenham to Torcross road but access to the cottage is to the side of the property with its own drive and large parking area.

Dating back to 1860 this pretty stone built, semi-detached, cottage is set in an elevated position, at the edge of the beautiful village of Axmouth in East Devon. The cottage is comprehensively equipped to provide very comfortable accommodation for four adults and two children. Nestled in a picturesque valley less than a mile from the coast, Hillside is situated in a rural location with pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The only sounds to be heard in this peaceful spot are the gushing stream at the front of the house and the abundant wildlife. The perfect setting for your Devon cottage holidays.
The cottage is elevated above the laneway and is approached via steps leading to the front door. Downstairs there is a hall, living room with wood burning stove, kitchen/dining room, laundry cupboard and a large power shower room with WC. Upstairs there is a double room, a twin bedroom, a bunk room and family bathroom with large bath and power shower over. Outside there is a formal garden to the front of the cottage and a patio to the rear with steps rising to an area of decking and a picnic table with parasol for outside dining. The garden rises to reveal panoramic views across the valley. A small stone shed houses further outdoor seating and a barbecue. There is private parking for up to two cars adjacent to the cottage and further parking available 50 yards along the lane.
Axmouth village has two very good pubs, The Ship and The Harbour, both of which serve excellent food. The River Axe is within walking distance as is Axmouth Beach at about a mile away. Lyme Regis is around 5 miles to the East, whilst the fishing village of Beer is a few miles west. A large supermarket is around 1 mile away at Seaton, which also boasts the famous Seaton Tramway. The area is very popular with both cyclists and walkers and the nearest golf course is also less than a mile away. River Cottage HQ and the original River Cottage Canteen are within a few miles drive.
