A carpeted staircase leads to the first floor with three light and pleasant bedrooms, a Kingsize double with digital TV, a twin and a single all with storage and a family bathroom W.C with hand basin and shower over the bath.To the front of the property is a shared open brick paved drive with two reserved parking spaces for Lighthouse cottage. There is a pub in the hamlet within five minutes’ walk.

Mawgan Porth 1.5 miles has a pub, café, surf hire and local store and for a wider selection of amenities the resort of Newquay is 5 miles with many beaches, a zoo, leisure centre, bowling, cinema and aquarium. The famous harbour at Padstow is 9 miles where you can enjoy one of Rick Stein’s many eateries, visit the Elizabethan house at Prideaux Place, cycle the Camel trail to Wadebridge or take a ferry across to Rock with access to the beaches at Damer Bay and Polzeath by foot. For the water enthusiast the Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay provides many water based activities 1 mile away and is home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant. There are many golf courses in the area and the national Trust house Trerice and Lappa Valley Railway are within 6 miles.

Merlins Cottage (although more a house) is situated down a quiet private dead end track with panoramic sea views. It lies in the small coastal hamlet of Trevillick just a five-minute walk across National Trust farm land from the historic town of Tintagel.

The large garden enjoys superb views across Port Isaac Bay to Trevose Head.

Merlins is situated on the SW coastal path which provides miles of fantastic walks and breathtaking scenery.

Tintagel is famous for the legendary Knights of the Round Table and has many shops, pubs and cafes.

The cottage is a 15 minute walk from Trebarwith Strand which is a popular surfing and dog friendly beach and is only a 20 minute drive south to the sailing amenities of Rock and Polzeath. Six miles to the east lies Bodmin Moor, with outstanding cycling and hiking opportunities.

Merlin's Cottage can easily accommodate two families with children and all the associated surfing/sailing equipment. Alternatively it is wonderful for couples wanting to explore the stunning North Cornwall Coastline.

Accommodation overview: Perfectly positioned in a quiet setting on the edge of Bodmin Moor, this traditional stone detached barn conversion sits within a peaceful rural valley and is perfectly situated for those who wish to get away from it all.  Accessed via a long driveway, the property is set to one side of the owners stone farmhouse and within an area of outstanding natural beauty which offers an ideal rural retreat. 

With parking adjacent to the property, a stone footpath leads the front door which opens into a warm and cosy dining room, with a large a wood burning stove that warms the whole house. To one side of the dining room an open archway leads into the well equipped kitchen and to the other side of the dining room an archway leads into a spacious living room with comfortable lounge seating, large flat screen television, character vaulted ceiling and panoramic windows providing views across the garden and valley beyond.

A door leads from the sitting room into a sun room, which houses a wonderful sauna as well as the equipment that’s required for the garden and swimming pool. A perfect place to leave coats, flip flops or wellies. On one side a doorway leads into a downstairs separate shower room with steam shower, WC and basin. The French windows from the sun room lead directly onto the patio, with large swimming pool heated via solar panels. The patio also leads round to a large private hot tub, garden chairs and loungers.

A small gate from the patio leads into a garden where fish like to swim in the character ponds with rockery and plants. A large wooden table and chairs, parasol and BBQ sit alongside the ponds and are available to share with the owners next door.

To access the bedrooms, an inner hallway leads from the kitchen and provides a carpeted staircase which leads to the first floor with three separate bedrooms. Two double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom with miniature hip-bath, shower over, WC and basin. One twin bedroom with additional single captain’s bed with pull out bed beneath.

Locally there are many excellent walks, fishing, golf and pony trekking available, and a network of graded cycle trails through the ancient Cardinham Woods close by, as featured on BBC Countryfile. The old county town of Bodmin with a selection of shops, pubs, leisure centre, golf club and Steam Railway is about a 20 minute drive as is Lanhydrock House and Gardens. The village of Blisland, 5 miles, has a local store/P.O. and traditional pub facing the village.

The beautiful beaches and fishing villages of the north and south coasts are within a 40 minute drive and there are many glorious gardens and visitor attractions such as the Eden Project within easy reach. Water sports and fishing are available at Siblyback Lake nearby.  A real bonus for this peaceful rural location is the easy road access to both A roads providing an ideal base for exploring the whole of the county.

Accommodation overview: With partial views of the coastline and out to sea, this charming former coastguard cottage is set in a slightly elevated position above the lovely old Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac with the advantage of on-site parking.  One of a small row of double glazed cottages set in a quiet sheltered courtyard; it is just a couple of minutes walk down the hill to the picturesque harbour, famously known as the fictional setting of Doc Martin

The front door opens to a useful entrance lobby with cloaks cupboard and an inner door leads directly into a fully fitted kitchen/diner with a Cornish slate floor and dining table and chairs arranged in one corner.  To one side, an attractive warm and cosy sitting room has natural exposed stonework on one wall, a pine dresser and comfortable lounge seating arranged before the stone fireplace housing the multi fuel burner

In one corner of the sitting room, cottage stairs lead directly up to a small first floor landing, a modern shower room W.C. with heated towel rail and two pleasantly furnished bedrooms each with a wash basin.  There is a double bedroom and a master bedroom with the choice of a 6ft double or 3ft zip linked twin beds; both bedrooms have oblique views over the village, headland and sea. 

From the latter, an unusual first floor French door opens to a stoutly built wooden bridge leading directly out to the enclosed rear garden partly terraced into the hillside with steps up to a sloping lawn and a decked patio with views over the cottage rooftops to the sea and cliffs.  There is parking for one car directly outside the property and all the village amenities are a short walk down the steep hill where there are several good restaurants serving freshly caught fish and it is usually possible to watch the singers the Fishermans Friends perform on the quayside in summer evenings. 

There is also a pub offering food and a supermarket at the top of the village and for a wider choice of amenities the market town of Wadebridge is about 9 miles.  Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have small shingly beaches at low tide and the glorious sandy beaches on the Camel Estuary, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are all approximately a 15 minute drive.  The South West Coast Path meanders out of the village in both directions offering spectacular scenery and there are watersports and three golf courses within easy reach.

At one end of the room is a smart range of Shaker style fitted kitchen units.

The remainder of the ground floor consists of a small bedroom with sturdy 3ft bunk beds more suitable for preteens and two steps up at the rear leads to a bathroom W.C. with underfloor heating, hand basin and shower over the bath and a utility area with an external door to the small service yard.

An open tread pine staircase leads up from the sitting room to the first floor landing and to two bedrooms, a double bedroom overlooking the quiet village and a twin with sea views and an en suite shower room W.C. and wash basin. There are electric convector heaters in all bedrooms.  To the side of the cottage is a parking area which leads down to the attractive shingle beach and a 300 year old pub and restaurant.

The cove is a fine base for boating and fishing activities, the south west coastal path is nearby and the bustling village of St Keverne is just over 2 miles away. The lovely village and harbour of Coverack is 4 miles.

Accommodation overview: A semi detached granite cottage of considerable character, 2 miles from Lamorna Cove, a few minutes drive from the famous open air Minack cliff theatre and only a hundred yards from the historic church, village pub and the two general stores that comprise the nucleus of the little village of St Buryan.

The front entrance is through a tiny walled patio garden with flowering shrubs. From here the front door opens through a conservatory with an inner door into a long low beamed sitting / dining room with exposed granite walls, small windows, an Inglenook fireplace. There is a neat kitchen area also with low beams. At the rear of the cottage an entrance / cloaks hall has an adjacent bathroom / W.C. with shower over the bath.

Stairs go up directly from the sitting area to two bedrooms, one open to the landing, each with a double bed, one being king size. The limited space makes it unsuitable for children under 8 and large dogs. Parking on the road outside is unrestricted. Lands End is 5.5 miles.

Quiet and secluded, it sits on the banks of a tidal creek with views over it to oak woodland and fields beyond. The area has an abundance of birds and wildlife. Approached via a private drive shared with the owners, the garden gate opens on to a large patio with raised fish pond and flower beds.

The front door leads into a small lobby. An inner door leads to a light, airy dual-aspect living room with French doors opening on to the patio and garden, with views over the creek. A fitted kitchen runs along one wall, and there are comfortable dining and sitting areas with a quarry tiled floor. At the far end, one step leads to a double bedded room with views of the river and forest, and a bathroom W.C. with wash basin and bath with hand shower attachment.

From the living room carpeted stairs lead up to two bedrooms and a shower room W.C. with hand basin and double width shower. The large bedroom has a 5ft double bed and views over the creek and forest. The smaller bedroom has two single beds and a window looking over a pretty fountain, the river and forest. The garden, with lawn, flower beds and barbecue area, is stock fenced, but the proximity of water and wildlife may make it unsuitable for toddlers. Dogs must be kept under control.

Hatt , 1 mile away, has a garage, post office and small shop and there are two village pubs within a 10 minute drive.
There are two golf courses including the famous St Mellion (handicap required), yacht clubs and canoeing within a few minutes drive. There is horse riding, walking, and beautiful gardens to visit, and the beaches of Seaton and Whitsand Bay are about 30 minutes drive, as is the historic city of Plymouth with numerous attractions including Europe's largest marine aquarium.
