Archway Cottage is a delightful cottage which was once part of an old brewery in Milton-under-Wychwood, a delightful Cotswold village. The property was completely renovated a few years ago and is furnished in a contemporary style with an emphasis on modern comfort.

The village has a post office and a small supermarket. It is located a mile from Shipton-under-Wychwood (which has three pubs, the Lamb, the Wychwood Inn and the Shaven Crown.) Also within a 15-minute drive are the top local pubs/restaurants, such as the Feathered Nest in Westcote, the Chequers in Churchill, the Toll House and the Plough can be found in Kingham, which also has the award-winning Daylesford Organic Farm shop and a mainline station to London Paddington.

There are three lovely market towns within 10 miles - Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. A little further afield are Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. Many delightful country house gardens are in the neighbourhood and also many wonderful walks in all directions.

The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.

The Old Bothy is a detached self catering holiday cottage for two adults in the grounds of a 17th century Grade II listed house. The compact single storey stone cottage was thoughtfully renovated in 2009 and furnished to a high standard providing a perfect setting for a romantic break.

It is situated in a very quiet conservation area of the 11th century village of Halford, which contains many Grade II listed houses and a beautiful Saxon Church. The Halford Bridge hotel and restaurant (originally an old coaching inn) is a few minutes' walk away. The local garage carries a good range of provisions.

The location of Halford makes an ideal starting point. Halford itself is situated on the Fosse Way (A429), at the northern end of the Cotswolds, eight miles from Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of Shakespeare and home of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre) and 14 miles from Warwick with its famous Warwick Castle. The old market town of Shipston on Stour is a few minutes' drive away and contains many shops, pubs and restaurants

Nearby attractions include Hidcote Gardens (six miles), the Cotswold towns of Moreton in Marsh (nine miles), Stow-on-the-Wold (14 miles) and Chipping Campden (10 miles). Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Winston Churchill) and the larger towns and cities of Oxford, Worcester and Cheltenham are all within an easy drive of approximately an hour

There are several notable National Trust properties nearby including Hidcote Gardens.
