The centres of Stratford, Cheltenham and Oxford are approximately 30 mins away and London is easily accessible by train from nearby Kingham which is about 2 miles 'up the road'!  (Time from London about 1? hours and Oxford just 20 mins).

The accommodation, which is set over three floors and with good size rooms throughout, has many period features through out. Including flagstone flooring, beams and mullion windows but of particular appeal is the kitchen which is, as they say, 'where the heart is': a gorgeous light room with a vaulted ceiling and Aga. When we visited the property we came away with the wow factor very much in our minds, we're confident that you'll feel just the same when you walk through the door too! The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.

Memorial Cottage is a Grade II listed, period stone, terraced, holiday cottage lying a few minutes' walk from the centre of the village.

Eyam, a beautiful unspoilt village set high among the moors in the north of the National Park between Bakewell and Castleton.

The village has a museum, hall, several shops and a good pub, the Miners Arms. This is prime rambling country and a hill track across Eyam Moor at the back of the village climbs to 1,200ft above sea level and offers spectacular views of Axe Edge, Maw Tor and Kinderscout.
