Enclosed by a long stone wall, the farm has its own courtyard garden with a terrace and barbecue. Stockbatch Granary is reached by a mile-long drive passing through the mixed arable land of Stockbatch Farm, with its fields of corn encircled by woodland. It comprises an 18th-century granary, clapperboard barn, stables and cowsheds, and nestles on a south-facing slope, at the bottom of which a stream wends its way gently along. A courtyard garden enclosed by a red sandstone wall provides a pleasant sitting-out area from which to survey the countryside views.

Walking is available from the house - indeed the Herefordshire Trail passes a few hundred yards away. In the nearby village of Bromfield, the Food Centre with a range of farm produce is well worth a visit, and just five miles away is the lovely market town of Ludlow, once described by Betjeman as ‘the most perfect town in England’. With its wonderful medieval and Georgian architecture, including a cathedral-sized parish church, ruined castle and local museum, Ludlow has much to offer the visitor including a wide range of places to shop or eat. Stokesay Castle at Craven Arms and Berrington Hall (NT) near Leominster are a short drive away, and both the Ironbridge Gorge and Severn Valley Railway, perfect for family days out, are within easy reach. The quirky town of Bishop’s Castle with its House on Crutches and variety of small shops tumbling down the high street is well worth a visit, as is Bridgnorth on the River Severn and the city of Hereford with its fascinating cathedral.
