This is a horse rider's paradise with stables adjacent and stabling available at an extra charge if you want to bring your own horse. The quaint property is bright, airy and very homely and is the ideal base for a sporting break or just a relaxing week in front of an open fire.
Drumlanrig Castle is a short drive away, and houses a famous art collection, including works by Rembrandt and Leonardo as well as offering a great family day out with an adventure playground and 7 STANES mountain bike trails at AE forest (2 miles). Bikes can be hired at Drumlanrig and tuition is available. There is loch fishing just 1 mile from the cottage and salmon fishing in the Nith. Falconry lessons and Vintage Car Hire can be organised at a nearby hotel, only a couple of miles away. Hillwalkers make the most of the Southern Upland Way and golfers alike are well catered for. Accommodation overview: This attractive, stone built, semi-detached house dates back to 1790 and is in a wonderful position overlooking the harbour with spectacular sea views. The house is newly refurbished yet retains charming original features including beamed ceilings and open fireplaces. The cottage style lounge and bedrooms all have stunning views and the house is very comfortably furnished in keeping with the traditional ambience. There is a lovely enclosed garden with patio and lawn, garden furniture and barbecue where you can sit out and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
This historic and very picturesque fishing village lies at Scotland most southerly point on the tip of the Machars between Luce and Wigtown Bay and is most famous for the ruined 13th C St Ninian Chapel which stands on the rocky foreshore. There are excellent local opportunities for salmon, trout and sea fishing as well as sailing and boat hire. Around the local area there are many historical places of interest to visit, the local golf clubs welcome visitors and magnificent coastal walking can be enjoyed. The house is within a few minutes walk of the village centre with its selection of shops and pub/restaurants.
