You can walk from this holiday cottage to Culzean castle (NTS) Country Park and just over 1 mile away is the Championship Turnberry Golf Course. Ayr is 15 miles north with good shopping and cafés and it is just another mile to Alloway the National Heritage Centre (NTS) of Robert Burns. Day trips can be taken to Ireland from Stranraer or to Arran from Ardrossan. Relax in the sunny garden with summer house and enjoy the view from the master bedroom over the Firth of Clyde. Accommodation overview: Arden Cottage in the heart of Galloway is the perfect getaway to explore this undiscovered but accessible corner of Scotland. Twynholm is well located for exploring the area which really does have something to suit every taste whatever age. The village was home to Formula One Driver David Coulthard and the eponymous museum is a great testament to his success from trophies and race suits to the actual cars David raced. Whilst you are there call in to the Pitstop Diner! The Cocoa Bean Company is just down the road producing hand crafted chocolates. They offer workshops to adults and children where you can immerse yourself in sheer chocolate heaven! The area is becoming popular with mountain bikers as we host the 7Stanes which offers seriously challenging and world renowned biking at various stunning venues across the region. For those who like less challenging cycling we have mile after mile of quiet sleepy roads edged by colourful hedgerows. Everywhere you look you will see evidence of our temperate climate, from exotic gardens displaying plants from the South Seas, to flourishing palm trees. Dumfries and Galloway is home to a myriad of amazing birds that make the Solway their home after their flights from the frozen north and the RSPB site at Mersehead is one of the best sites to watch them. For golfers there is a choice of around 30 courses across the country from Championship courses to beautiful courses by the sea.

Accommodation overview: Commanding spectacular sea views from a wonderful elevated position, this charming, cosy cottage has views to the Kirkcudbright coast, Cumbrian Fells and the Isle of Man. This is the perfect location for a special 'get away from it all' break - the cottage is reached by 3/4 mile of farm track. The cottage is comfortably furnished with a sunny conservatory where you can relax and watch the sunsets. The front and rear gardens are quite delightful, with garden furniture and a barbecue provided.
Shoreline walks can be enjoyed from the cottage and the 190 mile Solway Heritage Trail winds through the beautiful scenery of the Solway Coast from Gretna to the Mull of Galloway. This unspoilt area boasts lovely beaches and a wide range of recreational amenities including cycling, golf, birdwatching, fishing, sailing and places of interest including St Ninian's Cave and The Whithorn Story (where Scottish Christianity began). There are 2 good pub/ restaurants in Isle of Whithorn and seafood is available at the harbour.
