The area provides a perfect place to stay for walkers and visitors to National Trust properties. Ightham Mote is within walking distance through lavender fields and nearby are Chartwell, Knole, Quebec House, Stoneacre and Emmetts Garden. Bluewater Shopping Centre is 30 minutes' drive away. There are three restaurant/pubs, the Snail which is within walking distance, the Plough at Ivyhatch and the Chaser at Shipbourne, all serving very good food.

Ashford town centre is eight miles away and the mainline station provides a service to London Charing Cross and Victoria, with the International Passenger Terminal providing access to the Eurostar.
