A short walk down the hill from the cottage takes you into Oxenhope, with pubs and shops. The village is the southern terminus for the Worth Valley Steam Railway which holds seasonal events throughout the year. Walks can be accessed direct from the door, one taking you on the old pack horse trail towards Hebden Bridge which is a delightful town to explore. The area is perfect for Bronte enthusiasts, with Haworth village just 2 miles away and Top Withens, believed to be Emily Brontes inspiration for the Earnshaw residence in Wuthering Heights, just a short walk from the cottage. Haworth with its quaint cobbled street, abundance of tea rooms. good pubs and quirky shops is worthy of a visit. Other attractions in the area include the World Heritage Site of Saltaire, complete with David Hockney museum housed in the old mill, the National Media Museum in Bradford and Dean Clough, famous for arts and the theatre, in Halifax, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Manchester are all within easy reach for theatre and concerts. Cazenovia Hall is a holiday home within the secluded grounds of the family owned Grade I listed Blencowe Hall. Sensitively renovated to a high standard, Cazenovia Hall is a 5 Star Gold Award winning light and airy four bedroom traditional stone built barn dating back to 1726. It has views up over the nearby hills and its secluded south facing sandstone terraces are a marvellous place to wind down after a day out exploring in the Lake District.
Blencowe is situated on the edge of the Lake District, about seven miles from Ullswater. Close at hand is the Aira Force National Trust waterfall offering a great combination of a boulder strewn stream for the young at heart to paddle in, a tea shop and a scenic walk up to the peak of Gowbarrow Fell. The property is just over a mile from Greystoke Village which has a lovely village shop, a traditional Lakeland pub, the Boot and Shoe, a heated swimming pool and Greystoke castle with its 3,000 acres of woodland grounds, with the deer park now open for country walks.
In addition to its own private garden, parking and seating areas around the property, also contained within the grounds of Blencowe Hall is a tributary of the River Petteril which has brown trout fishing. Other outdoor pursuits can easily be arranged including salmon fishing, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, sailboat hire and cycle tours along the popular C2C cycle route which passes through the village. The fantastic views over the Lakeland Hills and peaceful setting make Cazenovia Hall ideal for walkers or guests seeking a "get away from it all" location from which they can enjoy the Lake District without being overrun by other visitors.
Other popular local attractions include Hutton in the Forest and its extensive grounds which are just a few miles away, Lowther Castle, and one of Alfred Wainwright's favourite walks in the Lake District which winds along just above the shores of Ullswater and forms a fantastic loop journey with a leg back along the famous Ullswater Steamers.

Blencowe is easily accessible from the Penrith train station (three hours direct from Euston) and a 10 minute taxi ride. It is about four miles from Junction 40 of the M6.
