The property has a unique and individual character with many very interesting original features intact - the ground floor has thick exposed stone walls and a magnificent kitchen with barrelled ceiling and stone flagged floor. The spacious lounge has a beamed ceiling and log burning stove with arched patio doors and picture windows to take advantage of the spectacular views.
The Ice Barn is set back from FIFE 151 A and has level exterior access to the ground floor and upper level. The two levels are linked by a spiral staricase, unsuitable for the elderly or very young.

Accommodation overview: Cardy Net House was built in 1867 by D. Gillies, a direct descendant of Alexander Selkirk (Robinson Crusoe) who was born in Lower Largo. This former net factory supplied fishing nets for the herring industry and was skilfully renovated by the architect owners to offer an exceptional and unique holiday home which has featured on television. The impressive interior has a vast open plan living area, one wall is entirely glazed with triple patio doors opening onto a sun terrace overlooking the beach and enjoying magnificent uninterrupted views across the sea and East coastline. The room is very bright as the vaulted ceiling is mainly glazed with beams, and there is simulated flagstone flooring - the relaxing lounge area is centred around an open fire with a piano for entertainment and the luxurious kitchen offers the ultimate in stylish design. The contemporary interior is further enhanced with sophisticated lighting - this contrasts beautifully with the vibrantly decorated bedrooms which have a cosy and traditional ambience. It has spectacular views and local wildlife on the doorstep, red squirrel, deer, hare and an abundance of birds. Outdoor furniture is provided to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The cottage is within the Cairngorms National Park and on the Cateran Trail (a 62 mile circular walking route through the breathtaking scenery of Glen Shee and nearby glens).
This is an ideal base for touring or participating in the wealth of local activities which include golf at the nearby Dalmunzie Hotel (the highest golf course in Scotland), climbing, mountain biking, angling, riding, ornithology and for winter sports Scotland's largest ski area is 9 miles away with an all year round chairlift. Pottery with local crafts nearby, village shop 6 miles away in Kirkmichael and good facilities 15 miles away in Blairgowrie. Pitlochry is 20 miles. There is much to see and do in the area which is renowned for its excellent golf courses. The Scottish Deer Centre is 3 miles away and in Cupar there is a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as tennis courts and a swimming pool. This would be an ideal base for touring the quaint villages of the East Neuk where there are beautiful clean sandy beaches, safe for bathing, and the historic University town of St Andrews is within easy reach.
Cupar was for a long time the county town and is still a bustling place with many interesting buildings. There are lovely walks in the surrounding area including the last part of the Coast to Coast walk from Oban to St. Andrews.
