The villages of Brandeston and Cretingham are between four and five miles south west of the historic market town of Framlingham, with its famous castle (Mary Queen of Scots was a prisoner there) and full complement of shops and pubs. Brandeston and Cretingham are surrounded by rolling countryside and each has a popular pub, a small village shop and a church. The Cretingham Golf Club is open to non-members and has a pay and play course. The Potash is situated between Brandeston and Cretingham in a large garden, with views over fields and the upper reaches of the River Deben. The house is detached and was mainly constructed in the 16th century. The roof is thatched and there are plenty of original period features, including exposed beams, wonky wooden floors, low ceilings and doorways. Accommodation overview: A newly renovated four bedroom holiday home in Dunwich which has been refurbished to the highest standards Dunwich with its intriguing past, which is revealed in the local museum (across the road from the house), is a unique village offering peace and tranquillity. There are also the remains of a leper chapel by the church and a monastery. The beach is shingle but at low tide it is partly sandy. There are many scenic pathways across the heath to the coastguard cottages and national trust tearooms. Amongst the numerous trails leading from Dunwich is one to Walberswick and on to Southwold via the ferry or bridge. The whole of the heritage coast offers excellent walking and stunning beaches to explore. Seadrift is a newly renovated four bedroom holiday home in Dunwich. It has been totally refurbished to the highest standard with ensuite bathrooms in three of the bedrooms and a family bathroom directly adjacent to the fourth. The rear garden has a large decked area with table and chairs and a barbeque to enjoy the stunning views across Dingle marshes towards Walberswick and Southwold.
