Lightpipe Cottage is a secluded holiday hideaway nestled in the midst of the rolling Northumberland countryside with a beautiful outlook towards the Cheviot Hills. Just over a mile from the River Tweed and 1.5 miles from Cornhill-on-Tweed, Lightpipe was originally a humble shepherd's cottage built of the local stone around 1835. In 2005 it was restored and extended. It is now a self-catering holiday rental offering comfortable and modern accommodation while retaining its original charm and features. Incorporated into the walls under the eaves are roosts for the local pipistrelle bats while a barn owl nesting box has been built into the roof space.

In the evening you may catch sight of an otter. There's an all-weather tennis court close by, as well as walks around the farm and further afield. Roads running through West Learmouth are quiet with little traffic, making it an excellent place for cycling and horseriding. Fishing on the River Tweed can be arranged through www.fishpal.com.

Places to visit in this part of Northumberland include Holy Island, 20 miles away on the breathtaking north Northumberland coast. There are spectacular walks in the Cheviot Hills, located in the Northumberland National Park 15 miles to the south.
