The property dates back to 1847 (NER) and reputedly designed by Benjamin Green, the renowned architect of the Theatre Royal in Newcastle. The kitchen and shower room would have once been the platform to the station and the lounge and bedroom were the original waiting rooms, reputedly used by the then Duke of Northumberland. Although trains no longer stop at Warkworth station they do still pass by at speed on the East Coast Main line adjacent.
