The Old Bothy is a detached self catering holiday cottage for two adults in the grounds of a 17th century Grade II listed house. The compact single storey stone cottage was thoughtfully renovated in 2009 and furnished to a high standard providing a perfect setting for a romantic break.

It is situated in a very quiet conservation area of the 11th century village of Halford, which contains many Grade II listed houses and a beautiful Saxon Church. The Halford Bridge hotel and restaurant (originally an old coaching inn) is a few minutes' walk away. The local garage carries a good range of provisions.

The location of Halford makes an ideal starting point. Halford itself is situated on the Fosse Way (A429), at the northern end of the Cotswolds, eight miles from Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of Shakespeare and home of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre) and 14 miles from Warwick with its famous Warwick Castle. The old market town of Shipston on Stour is a few minutes' drive away and contains many shops, pubs and restaurants

Nearby attractions include Hidcote Gardens (six miles), the Cotswold towns of Moreton in Marsh (nine miles), Stow-on-the-Wold (14 miles) and Chipping Campden (10 miles). Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Winston Churchill) and the larger towns and cities of Oxford, Worcester and Cheltenham are all within an easy drive of approximately an hour

There are several notable National Trust properties nearby including Hidcote Gardens.

Accommodation overview: The Stables is a superb self catering holiday cottage set in a leafy area of Stratford upon Avon called Shottery, an area best known for 'Anne Hathaway's Cottage' which is about 300 yards away. If you would like to enjoy the superb facilities (including the National Theatre) in Stratford then you really could not be more conveniently located, as everything is within walking distance. The property is a 5 star standard and has been beautifully modernised to provide spacious and light accommodation ideal for families or groups alike. Of particular appeal is the huge open plan living space which 'spills' onto the courtyard. Although this is a central location it is private and relatively peaceful and with an off street parking spot you can leave the car and stroll into town too. Accommodation overview: Backlodge Stables is an extremely high standard of self catering accommodation situated in a superb location in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. The accommodation is actually two components (The Stables and The Tack Room) which combined offer four bedrooms and three bathrooms but allow one couple to enjoy more privacy with their own self contained facilities. Access between the two properties is about 15 paces along the path! The large open plan living space in The Stables is perfect for large families or groups with large sofas and dining facilities making it suitable for general entertaining. It's central, yet quiet, location also make it a great spot for the wealth of Stratford's attractions, see below. We loved these properties. ACCOMMODATIONThe main entrance is to The Stables, with access to The Tack Room approx 10 yards away. The Stables has:Large Living Space with two large sofas, additional seating, large flatscreen TV, Freeview, DVD player and gas flame fire. Kitchen / Diner with large dining table and 8 chairs and fully equipped kitchen with halogen hob, oven, grill, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, microwave and large fridge freezer. There are three bedrooms on the first floor; two with king size double beds and one with twin single beds. There is one ensuite bathroom and one family bathroom. All bedrooms have wardrobe and chest of drawersThe Tack Room is a completely self contained property, with it's own fully equipped kitchen, plus living room with TV, DVD etc. Upstairs there is a bedroom suite, with king size double bed and wardrobe plus ensuite shower room.OutsideThe Stables has an enclosed, south facing courtyard with table and chairs. Furlong Barn is a beautiful property in a stunning, secluded position, enjoying uninterrupted views across Warwickshire farmland from all aspects. This comes with the added advantage of being on the edge of the pretty village of Long Itchington, with its pond and village green, within walking distance. On the green you will find the Buck and Bell pub, with its local beers and good food, or a short car ride will take you to Hilltop Farm on the Fosse Way, where there is a fabulous farm shop and restaurant.

The barn has recently been completely, stylishly, renovated with great attention to detail in every room. The vaulted main bedroom, sitting room and kitchen diner have a wealth of exposed, limed timbers, set off by oak or slate flooring.

The decision to completely relax and enjoy local walks or cycle trails, or travel and explore one of the local towns of Warwick, Stratford on Avon, Rugby or Royal Leamington Spa, is yours. Sailing enthusiasts can enjoy Draycot Water, only a few miles away. You are situated only a mile from the Fosse Way, so a 40 minute drive will see you in Moreton-in-Marsh or Chipping Camden, in the heart of Cotswold country. Alternatively, 30 minutes in the opposite direction will take you to Birmingham, with its NEC and airport.
