Built from local sandstone and reclaimed beams it is situated on a farm at the edge of Crackenthorpe, which lies 2 miles to the west of Appleby and in the heart of the Eden Valley. The area is great for walking with easy access to the Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Hills. Local attractions include a swimming pool at Appleby, Acorn Bank Gardens, Ostrich Farm and Center Parcs at which you can buy daily tickets. Appleby of course is famous for its horse fair in June.
