Draenllwynellen is a beautifully refurbished detached farmhouse in an elevated position enjoying breath-taking unspoilt views across the valley towards the Kerry Ridgeway and Shropshire Hills but within 2 miles of the ancient Welsh border town of Montgomery, with its twice weekly market. This traditional property dates back in parts to the early 1800’s and boasts original beams and oak staircase, a bespoke kitchen with range cooker, and large family lounge with wood burning stove Set in its own acre of land with orchard and ornamental garden and rustic outbuildings, guests will enjoy the spectacular scenery and peace and quiet of this beautiful rural hideaway.

There are footpaths and byways directly from the house and quiet country lanes for walking or cycling as well as Offa’s Dyke path (3 miles) and hill walking and nature reserves at Roundton and Corndon Hills near Church Stoke, some 4 miles distant as well as the Long Mynd, a scenic 40 minute drive away.

Montgomery town boasts a ruined 13th century castle (free entry and a perfect place for a picnic with spectacular views!); the Old Bell Museum of local history; two excellent tea rooms with delis; pub and Dragon Hotel bar; The Chequers Michelin starred restaurant and small supermarket (stocking local produce) with ATM; organic and homemade produce available at the Thursday and Saturday morning markets. Take a look at the ‘Taste Montgomery’ website for details of Tasting Trails in and around the area, sampling many of the delights of local produce. Other local attractions include Glansevern Hall Gardens and renowned Potting Shed Cafe, Gregynog Gardens and cafe, Powis Castle (NT) and Kerry Vale’s very own vineyard with tastings and vineyard tours.

Rail stations are at Welshpool and Newtown, (20 minutes away in either direction) where there are a range of shops including major supermarkets. Regular bus services to Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Newtown run from Montgomery, and further afield are the historic market towns of Bishop’s Castle, Ludlow (45 minutes) and Shrewsbury (45 minutes) each with an array of independent retailers and great selection of restaurants. Tennis (Montgomery) and 9 hole golf course (Welshpool).
