Ashcombe’s superbly appointed holiday properties all have wonderful views over the hills and woodlands of the 2,500-acre agricultural estate, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Careful landscaping has provided patios and lawns for both morning and afternoon sun and the properties border a pretty, grassed courtyard with a central fountain. There is an indoor heated swimming pool, complete with changing rooms, at Woodhouse Farm. All holiday properties are well decorated and equipped; most have Italian-tiled floors, oak-beamed ceilings, double glazing, full night storage heating or central heating, log fires or electric ‘log-effect’ fires and en-suite facilities in every property.
Easily accessible from major routes and close to the end of the M5, Ashcombe is South Devon’s countryside at its best, with deep secluded valleys and rolling tree-covered hills affording striking views stretching from the River Exe for miles along the impressive coastline. There is a multitude of picturesque villages with historic inns and curiosity shops, and always just around the corner lies somewhere to relax, and indulge in a delicious Devon cream tea! The sandy beaches at Dawlish and Teignmouth are a delight, and within a stone’s throw is the drama of Dartmoor, a great wilderness of extremes, barren in some areas, lush in others, famous for its rocky tors and wild ponies. Golf can be found locally with courses at Teignmouth (2½ miles), Dawlish Warren (3½ miles) and Woodbury Common (12 miles). Sea and coarse fishing by arrangement. Main shops 3 miles.
